My two paintings have been entered into the Miss. Artists Guild show at Spectacles in Highland Village. One is oil, Pearl River at Jackson; one is acrylic, Miss. River:Delta. The reception is Dec. 3rd. The show lasts until the first week in February. Here's hoping that I get some positive reviews.

Painting by Request
The title refers to a painting that I am doing not as a direct commission, but as a subject mentioned to me at an outdoor show. This is because I am going to another show later this year, and the subject of cows seems popular these days. I have sold a cow painting this year. Cow paintings even sell in Jackson. I know that I do not own any cows, but I have in decades past. So it is not an unknown subject to me. Perhaps it does seem to be chasing the market, but I have painted cows in the past. The market is just catching up to me.

On to the Next
Here I am creating a new oil painting from a photo someone gave me from decades ago. Actually I think it was before I was born. I don't know the location or the people in it. I have flipped it to do the painting from the opposite side. It is sort of comforting to realize that in a couple of years I will have another oil painting dried and ready to show. Hopefully I will find a good show for it. The art market of the state seems concentrated on plein air paintings, which I haven't done in several years. I do not like painting along in a group, I prefer painting alone, then showing in groups or solo. It will be realism, this oil painting. Perhaps it will find favor with the public.

Art Gallery For My Art
This month I journeyed to Tunica, MS and placed sixteen paintings in the Crooked Letter Art Gallery. Most of them are framed paintings, in oil, acrylic, and watercolor and ink. Two of them are unframed. Hopefully I will get some sales from this effort, of at least two months. It is a store that is about ten miles south of the casino area, in an historic town on Main Street. I carried paintings that relate to my state, in hopes that some people would be interested in them. Meanwhile, of course, at home I will be painting again after awhile.

M.A.G. Nonjuried Show
My painting for the Miss. Artists Guild Nonjuried show in April and May is ready. The painting is titled Dancer Contemplating, and it is acrylic on canvas, framed. The show is at the Madison Center for the Arts in Madison, Mississippi. Our reception is April 12, a Sunday afternoon. The last time that we had a show there, a large crowd came to the reception. The officials at that venue seem glad to see us back. I don't know if my painting will find favor, but there are various ballet groups in Madison County. Anyway, I am looking forward to it.

Heartstrings Gala
In January I gave a painting to be auctioned off for the charity Heartstrings. The event will be Feb. 26 in Jackson. My oil painting is unframed 11"x14" on canvas, titled Clinton Nature Trail Bridge. I will not receive anything for it, but entry into the event. There will be food and entertainment. I expect to go and view the proceedings. Hopefully someone will select my painting. If not, I guess I get it back.
